How to Select The Right Pair of Cushioned Insoles

The first question to ask yourself about selecting cushioned insoles is do you really want cushioned insoles or are you looking for a lot more?

The reason why this question is posed is because there’s a whole group of people out there who are in essence protesting cushioned insoles. You may be thinking what I am:  “Come on, don’t you have anything better to do with your time? Why not protest the Global Currency Reset or the nationalization of the banks or something that affects a lot more people in a lot more serious ways?”

Nevertheless, this protest group states that cushioning is bad for the feet because it interferes with the proprioceptive receptors in the feet that tell you where your feet are at any point in time. If you feel the cushioning that is thick, then your feet can’t feel the ground you’re walking on. This type of thinking has led to another group of people who believe in “barefoot running”, also known as minimalist running.

Thus, you have to make a decision on this. Does cushioning affect your foot negatively or is it what you need?

Once you know the answer to that question, it’s time to consider what type of cushioned insoles you need and what part of the foot should be cushioned.

Here are a few questions to ask yourself:

1. Would you want a gel type of cushioning that feels somewhat spongy when you walk?

2. Would you want enough cushioning but not too much and not too plush?

3. Would you want cushioning in the arch and mid-foot?

4. Do you need cushioning at your heel?

5. What about cushioning in the area of the ball of your foot?

6. Do you need cushioning at the area of the big toe for more propulsion when you jog or run?

After these questions are answered solidly in your mind, it’s time to go on to the next question – what cushioned insoles will you buy? For a full list of our cushioned insoles to choose from, visit our Best Sellers for Cushioning page online at Ideastep.
